Software Reviews of McAfee VirusScan Plus 2007Customer Review: Do system restore before you install. You will need it. Summary: 1 StarsI bought three boxed packages of McAfee VirusScan Plus 2007 for windows as stocking stuffers for family! What a mistake, let me tell ya! It will NOT install if you are running certain other programs such as ZoneAlarm!!! You literally CANNOT install VirusScan if you use ZoneAlarm. And then, even if you try, all u get is the Security Center with NO VIRUS PROTECTION! And if you uninstall that and even do system restore, the McAfee program will haunt you with pop-ups ...they must hide some of their program and not allow you to uninstall it all! I have been a long time McAfee user. They just lost a long-time customer.
I wish i could rate this a ZERO!!!! Im returning all these for a refund! I guess im skewed on the one i opened!!! Learn from my mistake - do NOT buy this VirusScan 2007. McAfee has locked their user forums so many people are complaining!!!
Customer Review: Awful Summary: 1 StarsAfter I first loaded the program, I turned on my Modem, and the program asked if I could trust everything that came through the modem from the internet. I said 'No'. McAfee proceeded to block every attempt to connect to the internet. I deleted the program, but the internet remained blocked.
I reformated my hard drives, reloaded my software, and tried McAfee again, but I told the software to trust everything from the internet. The software started pop-up messages saying there was a change to my registry, do I want to approve the change. Nowhere does the program let you know what is changing, what program makes the change, if the change is initiated by a computer on the net. You are left ignorant as to the nature of the change, but you are expected to be an expert on whether you can safely accept the hidden change!
The software refuses to co-exist with free Ad-Aware, free firewalls, ect. If the software detects these, it refuses to load or run.
I wish I could get my money back as I am throwing this piece of garbage out!
Customer Review: This 3-in-1 VirusScan Plus 2007 is good enough and never slow down my lowest Pentium 2.00 GHZ performance Summary: 5 StarsThis version is a stand-alone solfware. The 3-in-1 is good enough and does not slow down my lowest Pentium 2.00GHZ desktop among 5 including laptop and desktop. To avoid errors during installation, some steps need to be done as follow:
_ Enable 'update' on System startup if it has been disable for any reason.
_ Use the same ID logon when it is already registered and is for one-user only
_ Remove all antivirus programs that have the same function on this 3-in-1.
_ Install onto each PC one at the time; otherwise, an error 'Not Protected' will appear.
_ It can be installed 1 or 2 of 3 separately by using customize option.
_ Run Update on Security center before restaribg system.
This 3-in-1 is runing good on my PC's without any errors since I have bought on 11/12/06.
Customer Review: Sadly, about as good as it gets Summary: 4 StarsThis is a nice integrated package of all the security software you really need (anti-virus, firewall, and anti-spyware), with only a little unneeded bloat (e.g., site advisor, which is an optional install, and network manager, which is not). It seems to be taking up about 50 MB on my system. I got the 3-user pack and replaced Norton Internet Security 2004 plus WebRoot SpySweeper on my wife's computer and a crippled OEM McAfee that came on my computer. It's far better than either of these. Unfortunately, my experience over the last few years is that McAfee is about the best on the market. It seems that you need a dual-processor machine so one processor can be devoted to virus scanning. Norton has gotten way too slow and bloated, and after an entire weekend spent with Symantec technical support last year, when all I really wanted to do was renew my subscription, I vowed I was going back to McAfee. The install was easy, and it only took about 2 hours to download the 30 MB of updates over dialup (times 2, once for each computer). The documentation is rather limited, but the product is a lot simpler to configure than Norton, so I haven't had any problem with the settings so far. My wife's computer is running faster, and I can finally get my computer to quit virus-scanning all my network folders.
Customer Review: VirusScan Plus 2007 Summary: 4 StarsPros: Easy setup. Easy maintenance via automatic download of updates.
Cons: very resource intensive for several minutes at startup. Basically consumes the system. Insists on Scanning every drive in the system whether I want it to or not. Unchecking the drives in the list does absolutely nothing. It scans them anyway!
