I have been using McAfee for the past 5 years since I Symantec came up with such a lousy product that it almost had me reinstall my OS. I was happy with McAfee until this verion where they tosses all consideration for the user aside and decided they know best what to do with your computer.
Examples:
1. They pre-set the scheduled scan which is so difficult to stop. It takes over your computer and would not let you stop the scan in progress. Once you have stopped it, it is very difficult to figure out how to change the settings to not scan again.
2. Every time you need to do something in the software it will try to 'gather' the current security information. This takes a over 15 seconds and it very very annoying.
3. You can't do anything useful from the system tray icon. Would it have killed these guys to have a menu item to stop the current scan in progress?
4. When the automatic download of updates starts, it takes up so much of your computer resources and takes about 3 minutes to finish.

This product is working just fine and was priced below the competition on eBay and elsewhere. I do know that there were a couple "sales-with-rebates" that would have come out a couple dollars cheaper, but I honestly did not want to hassle with the rebate process. My new HP Vista computer came with Norton, which ran a little slow. So I tried replacing it with McAfee. Although McAfee scanned faster than Norton, the security center module kept crashing my internet connection. I know it wasn't the firewall, because it did so even with the firewall turned off. It seems that the security center continually monitors your network connection. The process of that monitoring seemed to change the IP address of my computer and/or router. The only way to fix it was to go to IE "diagnose network problems" and let it reassign IP addresses. There is no way to disable the network monitoring function, so I gave up and went back to Norton. Very poor software. I'd give it 0 stars if it let me. The McAfee website is also very poor regarding support or troubleshooting. The only free support is via chat, very hard to find and virtually useless.Customer Review: Horrible, just horrible.

Buggy, very buggy on my XP. Never did properly load all the files. After 1 day error message said firewall not installed. Uninstalled then reinstalled. Didn't work and then the virus scan stopped working. Was unable to ever register even after following help instructions. Updates never worked. Finally, tossed the whole thing out. Using another software that works perfectly. This was just horrible software.
