Customer Review: Seriously bogs down your computer without warning

Switched from Norton and am very disappointed. Updates are way way too frequent and bogs down your PC while its updating. As for the scan, a) it starts without warning (couldn't see a way for it to warn you) and b) absolutely grinds your computer to a halt. Cant work while its scanning. I do have a 5 year old computer, but Norton didn't do this, so dont see why McAfee should. I constantly hear "f-ing McAfee" coming from the other room when my wife gets interrupted with an update while working on her laptop - multiple times a day.
I thought the user interface on Norton was bad - one of my reasons to switch - but McAfee's is just as bad. These things really dont need to be bewildering.
But, no virus attacks all year, so seems to work well on that front.
Anyway, back to Norton - hope the latest isn't so bad on my PC performance...

I have been using McAfee Internet Security Suite for my computers for the last 5 years. Have yet to get a virus infection. As many other users have pointed out, McAfee Internet Security Suite uses a lot of resources and slows down computers, most noticeable during boot up. If you can accept this deficiency, then this sofeware is not bad at all for either XP or VISTA OS.Customer Review: Rated 1 - Really a ZERO

Could not install this on my Windows XP. Tried several times over - each time I had to uninstall (with MacAfee removal software downloaded off site) and reinstall. Finally contacted tech support chat and he tried to install to no success. He told me that the software was no longer supported by MacAfee and would have to get another software pkg. Basically just threw the money away purchasing this. So ZERO is what this software is rated. When their own techs cannot install it on your computer there are some real issues with the software. AND... they will not warrant the purchase of the 2008 edition. Time for a new anti-virus software provider. Goodbye MacAfee.Customer Review: missed too much

I am not impressed with either McAfee or Norton, they both are very commercial and seem to miss virus's and spyware. In fact they are close to useless. Gives one a very false sense of security. Try iolo, bit defender or spyware dr. They all seem to find lots of garbage that these big name virus detectors miss. In fact, McAfee is even worse than Norton.Customer Review: A little security is a major relief when it comes to PCs!

I love McAfee. When our McAfee membership ran out on our computer, we installed this easily and it is a huge relief to have it securely backing up our system in an easy to understand manner. I am not a computer geek so I really appreciate the clear way in which McAfee explains your options and choices when something unexpected comes along while you are working on your computer. I use my PC professionally. I cannot afford to be caught in a situation where I lose my work or my computer gets messed with while I am caught unaware. This sound and efficient product is something I depend upon daily.
